Band Name: Unknown Highway
Hometown: Cedar Rapids, IA
Website: https://www.myspace.com/unknownhighway
Performing: June 15, 2007

Unknown Highway, a 4 piece top 40 power country act is something out of the ordinary. A blend of new country played with the heart and soul of musicians who have paid their dues in bars, honky tonks, and large venues throughout the midwest and south. Unknown Highway bases its sound around the vocals of hot young talent Jake McVey. Visit our website to hear some samples.

At a young age McVey handles the stage and crowd like the most seasoned veteran. Playing guitar at age 9 Jake can hammer out a solo or lay back on an acoustic filling the room with strings. McVey's CD apply titled "Unknown Highway" is a testament to the accomplishments of a hard working singer/songwriter. When you desire the flash of a ripping guitar solo or the sweet cry of a steel guitar one name comes to mind and Unknown Highway has him.

Jeff Mattison, at age 4 Jeff picked up his dad's old Fender Duo-Sonic and hasn't looked back since. Mattison, a founding member of the band Rio Grand traveled throughout the Midwest in the 90's, honing his skills and writing abilities. Mattison is a fan favorite wherever Unknown Highway performs. Just show up and he'll show you why. Every band has it member that doesn't "say much."

Bassist Barth Walter doesn't have to. The low end rumble of his bass guitar speaks for itself. Walter, originally from Guttenberg, Ia. was involved with music at a young age. He was chosen to perform in the national FFA band in high school, a tremendous honor. Barth has played in bands around the midwest and in Alaska for 20 years. Although quiet, Barth leaves a lasting impression on everyone that meets him.

In the heart of every high energy country band is one rocker. Luckily for Unknown Highway they have drummer Michael Jensen. Michael toured the midwest in the later 80's and early 90's before joining the group Sante Fe and later 8 Seconds where he met Walter and Mattison. A true listener Jensen's thunderous beat holds solid and dynamic. Jensen provides the band with the energy to make you feel like you're as much a part of the music as they are. Unknown Highway's high energy show will keep you moving with a barrage of top 40 hits, originals, and power ballads.
